Type of assistance: Past-due Rent Assistance, Security Deposit/1st Month’s Rent Assistance, Scholarship & Training, and Disaster Shelter.

McHenry County Workforce Network

Type of assistance: Various job training and placement programs.

St Vincent DePaul of Woodstock

Type of assistance: Food, financial such as rent, utilities, car repairs, glasses, doctor and dental, etc.

Income limits / qualifications for assistance: No income limits, only need. We can provide limited assistance to most people in need after a home visit by our team.

The Salvation Army

Type of assistance: rent, utilities, car repairs, medical, water, etc.

Veterans Assistance Commission

Type of assistance: Financial Assistance Available to honorably discharged veterans and surviving spouse that meet eligibility criteria.

Income limits / qualifications for assistance: Veteran must have served during time of combat, have combined household income and net worth under $127,600 not counting primary residence and be honorably discharged.

United Way 211 – Resources for everyone – Call 211

United Way 2-1-1 provides an easy way for everyone to access help with almost any challenge. Dialing 2-1-1 in McHenry County will connect you to a call center that will direct you to an appropriate social service agency or nonprofit organization. Trained specialists can quickly assess your needs and offer knowledgeable information and referral for services including rent and utility assistance, food banks, affordable housing, health resources, child care, elderly care, financial counseling, job training, and much more. 2-1-1 is simple to remember, accessible to everyone, and available 24/7/365 at no cost.
